Adventures on the farm
We have been a typical mountain farm at least since the year 1426, where we were first mentioned in the book, Gornjegrajski urbar. All these years farming was our primary activity. If you would like to see first-hand how life on a mountain farm such as ours looks like you are kindly invited to stay on our farm with our family. With pleasure we will show you around our farm and tell you how we live 1121 m high in the Slovenian Alps in a solitude location with nature in the fresh air far away from cities and traffic jams.
Would you like to try milking a goat or a cow? We still milk our goats and cows by hand. This is because we are a small farm and we milk only one goat and one cow if the time is right. We have milk only for ourselves and our guests. If you wish you can also try some other farming chores.
Let us know and we will tell you what is available at the time of your visit to try. The work on the farm is diverse and it changes depending on the week, month and season.
Adventures in the vicinity
Most of all, our location is the perfect place for all of you who would like to recharge, breathe the fresh air and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. The farm is an excellent starting point for mountain-hiking and mountaineering. Depending on fitness levels, climbers may take more or less demanding routes, such as Smrekovec (1577m), Komen (1684m), Travnik (1637m), and Raduha (2062m). Those guests who prefer shorter outings can visit the Sopot spring, Smrekovec, the Golte etc. Numerous paths and tracks will entice you to gather forest fruits and herbs.
Exploring the outdoors is very interesting also by mountain bike. There are many forest roads and hidden gems that you can explore by yourself or with a bike guide. We recommend the White Rabbit team – they have excellent bike guides and tours. With them you can explore our valley from a completely different perspective. On your tour you will meet local providers and discover places that are on your own much harder if not impossible.
Each season on the farm has its unique charm, so let’s not forget about winter. In winter the guests can go skiing at the near-by Golte ski resort that is 5 km away from the farm, and enjoy all the joys of the winter time. Sledding, ski-touring, skiing or just walking in the white nature. At Golte, nearby the ski center is a great ski school: White Rabbit, where you can learn how to ski or just upgrade your ski turns. The ski school is also the perfect option for kids to learn skiing.
In addition, tours to the flower park Mozirski gaj, the natural park Robanov kot, the valley Matkov kot, the Logar Valley, the cave Snežna jama etc., may be memorable experiences, as well as trips to many cultural and historical sights of the Upper Savinja Valley.
